Bomb Threat (Code Green)
CFVHS takes all bomb threats seriously and treats them as real until a complete search of the area can be affected. When a staff member receives or perceives a bomb threat, they will initiate a Code Green. Staff will manage all bomb threats in accordance with the health system policy at Bomb Threat Policy.
The staff member will gather as much information as possible depending on the situation. If the threat is received telephonically, the staff member will make note of the caller's voice, tone, accent, and any background sounds that might provide law enforcement with clues to the caller's identity. If the threat is written or is perceived because of a suspicious package or unclaimed bag, the staff member will do everything possible to protect the integrity of the evidence.
Staff will notify the switchboard, who will, in turn, notify law enforcement and the Administrator on Call (AOC). The Administrator on Call, in consultation with law enforcement, decides if an evacuation is warranted. Law enforcement decides if the scene is safe and will call “All Clear”.
